The Redeemer Summer Youth Project caters for approximately 350 children and young people from Cox’s Demesne and the surrounding areas and runs for four weeks in July each year. The 1st week is for older teens 15 and over, week 2 is for 4-6 year old children (mini project), week 3 is for 7-10 year old children and the last week is for 11-15 year old children.
The ethos of the project is to be both educational and fun. Activities are well structured and supervised.
They include sports, outdoor pursuits, swimming and day trips. trips normally go to Lisburn Waterworld, Dublin Zoo , Ardgillan Castle, Newbridge Park, Carlingford Sky Park, Kilbroney Park, to name but a few.
The Summer Project is co-ordinated by the Cox’s Demesne Youth & Community Project but would not be possible without the dedicated team of helpers which include all the youth workers of “The House” and volunteers from the community.
The Summer Project is heavily subsidised to allow families from the area and enable the young people in the community to participate in the project.
The Redeemer Summer Youth Project relies almost solely on fundraising.
Unfortunately, in 2020/2021 and again in 2022 we have been unable to run a full summer Project because of Covid-19. But hopefully 2023 will be the year we will resume it.
For further information please contact the coordinators Norma Cooney and Claire Duffy regarding the project.
